SWCHS Farm exists to provide opportunities for all members of the school and local community to enrich their basic education by reference to the living environment of the farm and garden. It has been established for over 40 years and covers an area of about 1 hectare on the school site

It is a teaching facility which offers access to Farm Livestock and domestic pets. We keep Pedigree Dexter Cattle and Ryeland sheep and Dairy goats (British Toggenburg, Saanen nannies and a British Alpine type kid.)

There are also free range chickens on our farm. These are  Black Rock hybrids and miniature Light Sussex bantams.

We also keep Dutch and miniature Lop eared rabbits, guinea pigs, degus, cockatiels, dogs and a cat.

Access is also available to the facilities and land needed for their upkeep and to machinery and equipment used in the production process.

Small scale food growing and plant production is also carried in the horticultural units, greenhouses and polytunnels.

The Unit is available for visits, curricular use by SWCHS or other schools, work experience and by the school Farm Club. Arrangements should be made with the Farm Manager.

There is no charge as such but a donation is much appreciated. Individuals using the farm on a long term basis are expected to join the Farm Club and pay the relevant subscription.

The Farm is open from 7.30am each day of the year and closes at 4.30pm
